Experiencing a sunset in Bali should be near the top of every traveller’s “To Do” list. There are, literally, thousands of places you could do this on the island of Bali – from a rooftop above the island all the way down to a beach at the water’s edge. What better way to do it than with a cool drink in your hand and some great music in the background? Here’s a list of the5 best bars for sunset watching in Bali.
La Plancha is a hip, laid-back beachfront bar that is guaranteed to be a good time. It’s like a giant party all the time with beach umbrellas, beanbag chairs in the sand and a large selection of international food items on the menu – not to mention the cool electro-tech music playing in the background.
Legian, on Mesari Beach next to JL Double Six
Single Fin is another on-the-beach bar that offers amazing sunset views. It’s a cliffside bar, which means there are multiple levels with terraces and patios as well as a huge lower deck at beach level. Sundays are popular at Single Fin because they have live music and guest Djs for your entertainment. It’s also a popular spot for sunset surfing as well. Come early as this club fills up quickly – especially in the evening hours. If you get to Uluwatu make sure you make a day of it as there is so many things to do in this area; surfing and sun baking on the really cool cliff top areas.

Sky Garden Rooftop Lounge
If you are looking for an above the sea sunset experience, the Sky Garden Rooftop Lounge is a great choice. It’s part tiki bar, part restaurant, part upscale club – all rolled into one. The Sky Garden offers buffet style meals in addition to traditional Thai BBQ. There’s a large dance floor, theater screen for movies and DJ light shows and a large bar with a variety of seating options.
Location: Legian, atop the 61 Legian Entertainment Complex
This amazing venue was built atop rocks at the edge of the Indian Ocean so that the edge of the venue appears to be suspended from a cliff! Rock Bar is an open-air venue and part of the Japanese-inspired Ayana Resort and Spa. There are usually live bands and Djs at Rock Bar to provide entertainment, but be advised, due to limited space and the venue’s popularity – you may have to make reservations well in advance, unless you’re a guest at the resort.
Location: Jimbaran, Bukit Peninsula
The best way to experience a Bali sunset is to do as the locals do – and that’s at Old Man’s – a laid-back local bar where you can pull up a chair on the sand and have a beer – or five – with friends. There’s beer pong, disco music, happy locals, sand, surf – and of course sunsets! What more could you ask for?
