Double Six Hotel Seminyak Review

After spending a fantastic week here at the executive suite here at the brand new Double Six Hotel in Seminyak all I can say is wow, this hotel is amazing. No expense has been spared in the design, hotel facilities and finishes.

The hotel was completed in 2015 and has seen a rush of promotion in Australian newspapers offering seriously good discounts to get people to try out the hotel. We took this offer up and paid roughly $400 per night for a room that would have otherwise costed around $1000 per night. This is a promo rate and judging by the number of people at the hotel I don’t see this lasting too long.

Our first thought at entering the room was a jaw dropping wow. It felt like we were entering some kind of fairy tale land with a seriously large room and bathroom with sweeping views right over Seminyak beach. We are also talking about a really roomy balcony where you could entertain up to 10 people comfortably while having sunset drinks.

The hotel staff were on hand all the time and the real added bonus is that on each floor you have a room concierge that is always walking the floor to see if you need anything. All you need to do is make the call and by the time you hang up the phone, there is a gentle tap on your door. Now that’s real service.

All rooms come with he usual luxury add ons like flat screen TV, remarkably fast Wifi (for Bali standards), an expresso coffee making machine, assortment of teas topped up daily, a large very comfortable L shaped, min bar, a separate wine bar with a range of well stocked wines, thick plush curtains to block the sun out, powerful air conditioning, large queen size bed (this was made for you every couple of hours and turned down for you at night), as much bottled water as you need, comfy couch cushions, double basins in the bathroom, a seriously cool bathtub with a TV in the wall so you can sit, soak and watch great Indonesian and western TV, large shower, robes, the list goes on and on. You really feel like your living like the rich and famous here.

The overall feel of the common areas is ultra modern, very contemporary yet once you hit the room floors you get a sense of warmth with plush carpets and wood paneled walls. The pool area is large enough to give you room for sunbaking the whole day and the actual pool area wraps around the front of the hotel. Staff are always on hand to move your chairs under the umbrellas as the sun moves during the day. The idea here is to hang around till sunset where you will be in a prime spot to watch the most spectacular Seminyak sunset. Everything has been thought of here to make your stay as luxurious and comfortable as possible.

I suppose if you are going to be paying over $1000 and you are competing with other large luxury hotels close by such as The W and The Oberoi you need to be offering these luxury add ons.

The hotel has an extensive pool side menu where you can have all these very hip healthy detox juices plus your standard burgers, fries and club sandwiches. There is also some really yummy local Balinese cuisine where you can get a real taste of what the locals eat. We couldn’t get enough of the Nasi Goreng.

There is also really well promoted in house restaurant called Seminyak Italian if you want to stay in. With all this food you are going to want to work it off some how and there is a great well equipped gym plus a day spa (Aqua Perla) to pamper you after the heavy work out. If that’s not your thing, remember you are right opposite a great beach where you can walk up and down for hours or even rent a surfboard and hit the waves.

You could not get a more centrally located hotel as it’s right in the thick of all the action with the buzzy vibe and restaurants, cafes and bars of Seminyak about a 5 minute taxi ride away. Your concierge will organise a taxi for you. Just pick up the phone and it will be sorted asap for you.

If you have a car or a scooter there is ample basement parking and a really cool thing is that there is an ATM machine in the basement where you can withdraw as much as you like. These ATM’s take all Aust bank cards so you don’t have to worry about dealing with dodgy money changers.
